Oven, stove, range and cooktop repair

Gas, electric and induction. Freestanding ranges, wall ovens and cooktops. We find out whether it's worth fixing before you commit.

What it's doing, and what is usually behind it

These are the faults we're called for most. The real cause is confirmed by testing, not guessing.

Gas burner clicks but won't light
A wet or dirty igniter, a burner cap sitting out of place, or a failed spark module or switch.
Gas oven won't heat or heats slowly
The classic cause is a weak igniter. It glows, but not hot enough to open the gas valve.
Electric oven won't heat
A burned-out bake or broil element, a blown thermal fuse or a failed relay on the control board.
Temperature runs high or low
A drifting temperature sensor, a worn door gasket or a control that needs calibration.
One electric burner is dead
The element, its socket or the switch behind the knob.
Door locked after self-clean
The high heat of a self-clean cycle often blows a thermal fuse or stalls the lock motor.
Display is blank or shows an error code
A power supply or control board fault. Note the code if there is one.

Before you call

A few of these calls end with a two-minute fix. Try these first. If nothing changes, we're a phone call away.

  • Lift off the burner cap, dry it and seat it flat. A cap that sits crooked stops ignition.
  • Check the breaker. An electric range needs both halves of its double breaker.
  • If the clock reset or the display is blank, switch the breaker off for a minute, then back on.
  • Note the model number from the tag inside the door frame or drawer. It helps us bring the right part.

If you smell gas

Don't light anything or flip switches. Leave the house, then call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Call us after the utility has made things safe. If every gas appliance stopped working after an earthquake, a seismic shutoff valve at the meter may have tripped, and your utility can restore service.

Common questions

Do you repair induction cooktops?

Yes. Most induction faults are a failed power board, a sensor or a cracked glass top.

Do you work on pro-style and built-in ranges?

Yes. See the brands we service for the full list. Wall ovens in older kitchens often sit in cabinet openings that new models don't fit, which makes repair the practical choice.
